Olicana was the Roman name for Ilkley, West Yorkshire where artist and teacher David James set up the business.
David creates commissions for gardens, interiors and commercial projects; creating bespoke features, luxury retail entrances, surface detailing and mosaic restoration.
Although mosaics of various kinds are often the start point, the work has developed to take in other aspects of decoration and detailing.
All commissions are designed and created with attention to detail, quality materials and a considered approach, he works with designers, architects, developers and head gardeners of private estates and individuals to produce bespoke decorative features.
David regular runs his popular pebble workshops and talks from his Ilkley studio attracting people from across the country.
Clients include the RHS, Sir Roy Strong, Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate and he frequently exhibits at Chelsea Flower Show and is featured in the Interiors Index.
His work is featured in leading interior, design and lifestyle publications including The English Garden, The World of Interiors, Dezeen, The Telegraph, Gardens Illustrated and Country Life.
