Created for garden and landscape designers as well as private individuals, garden
mosaics can provide a unique natural feature and focal point within both traditional
and contemporary outdoor settings.
The garden mosaics I create are pebble based, but can sometimes include other
elements such as technical ceramics, or cut marble and slate.
The pebbles used are hand selected for purpose in terms of colour, shape, texture and durability. All pebbles are frost proof, as well as un-waxed or coated which allow the colours within the mosaic to change when wet.
The
process by which the mosaics are created ensure a totally flat surface
across the
tops of the pebbles. The pebbles within the final mosaic are like 'icebergs' with a
large amount of their mass beneath the surface. This together with bonding of the
pebbles where possible within the design, leads to a very strong final product,
suitable for both pedestrian and light vehicular traffic.

Pebble mosaics are rarely made larger than 60cm dia. or 45cm sq due to weight, both
during fabrication and installation. However, larger pieces are created using a
sectional method, which offers a wide range of opportunities.
The hand placing of the pebbles and the required steps in the process do not make
this a quick off the shelf product, but one that needs to be designed into a scheme at
an early stage.
A few physical applications include, focal points within seating areas or path
junctions / terminations, step risers or thresholds, water features and edging details.
